Component icon reference¶
The 2D editor canvas draws what a pipe contains. This page is the key.
It is generated — python scripts/generate_icon_reference.py --write —
so the discriminator column cannot drift from the code that classifies.
How to read a block¶
- The pattern tells you the family: mesh for wall-flow filters, honeycomb for monoliths, waves for reduction chemistry, dots for porous media.
- The tint tells you which member of that family it is.
- A pipe carrying none of these stays plain.
There is no text on the canvas. Naming is carried by the hover tooltip and by this table — a deliberate choice, because the block is small and already shows a component id and a kind glyph.
Non-pipe components carry no icon in this release. Junctions, boundary conditions and turbines keep the appearance they have always had. Those kinds carry no tint, so geometry alone would have to separate them at small sizes, and no form of that was found that stayed legible; adding a tint channel for them is the shape a future attempt should take.
Drawn above is the zoom, in device pixels per world unit, below which that pattern collapses to a solid tint so a whole network stays readable. It is the answer to "why did the hatching disappear".
Min ΔE vs backgrounds is a diagnostic, not a gate: the smallest CIE ΔE*ab between the tint and any of the six static canvas backgrounds.

Legacy badges (legacy)¶
This style draws no per-role iconography — it reproduces the canvas as it was before the icon set: cell ticks and two corner badges.
Minimal (minimal)¶
This style draws no patterns and no badges: a role tint on the pipe body, the cell ticks, and the urea injector band.
